Programs- For Our Youth

JYTI - Junior Youth of Temple Isaiah

JYTI - Junior Youth of Temple IsaiahJYTI welcomes the participation of students in grades 5-7 of the religious school. This is a first step in learning about the exciting world of youth group and opportunities for fun, leadership and meeting other Jewish kids. Activities are held monthly and are coordinated by the Temple’s Family Educator, Rachel Petroff Kessler.

SYTI – Senior Youth of Temple Isaiah

The Temple takes great pride in its senior youth group. This group includes 8-12th grade Temple members and is affiliated with NFTY-MAR (North American Federation of Temple Youth, Mid-Atlantic Region). Our older teens participate in kallot, mitzvah corps, leadership training institutes, and the national NFTY convention. Members of SYTI have served on the regional board as officers and one of our teens was president of the entire region. The senior youth group meets regularly and hosts a diverse array of social, cultural, social action and religious activities. SYTI provides a supportive and exciting niche for our high school students who see the youth group as the place to make Jewish friends and explore their Jewish identity. SYTI is also under the supervision of our Family Educator, Rachel Petroff Kessler.

Teen Service

Our rabbi enjoys the personal connection he has with our teens in informal settings, the classroom, religious school programs, Confirmation and services. Our “Teen Service” format is casual and informal. It is a teaching opportunity for the rabbi and a chance for our teens to discuss an issue arising from the Torah portion of the week, the week’s headlines or our students’ lives.

College Connection

The Temple stays in touch with its students when they’re off to college. The rabbi communicates through e-mail and the Temple sends holiday packages to let our students know that we are thinking of them and to enable them to enjoy the holidays. The College Homecoming Shabbat service during Thanksgiving break is one of the most inspirational services of the year when our graduating seniors address the congregation on the experiences that shaped their lives.
